Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted over 50 New York State Court Officers last Thursday, recognizing their Court Officers Rodolfo Hernandez and Brian Bishop, for capturing an alleged murder suspect at the McDonalds on 161st Street, across from Yankee Stadium.
Officers Bishop and Hernandez apprehended Jesus Flores, who stabbed and killed a 43-year-old man, at the McDonald’s at East 161st Street and River Avenue, as well as slashing another a 27-year-old man in the vicinity. The officers, who were off-duty at the time of the incident, subdued and handcuffed the suspect while also recovering the weapon used in the assault.
“Officers Hernandez and Bishop went above and beyond the call of duty,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “These brave men exemplify the hard work and dedication all of officers, throughout The Bronx and New York City, that they hold near and dear, and that has helped in keeping crime down in our great borough.”
