Benefit for Officer Mike McTiernan
April, 30, 2014
Dear Friends,
On December 3, 2013, our fellow New York State Court Officer, Mike McTiernan was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at the intersection of Church and Bingham Streets in the City of Buffalo, while walking to work. Mike’s injuries appear to be career ending as he will be in rehabilitation and recovering for a minimum of two years until his prognosis is known. He sustained serious injuries to both legs, his shoulder, ankle, tibia and heel. As a result, Mike underwent numerous surgeries, and is confined to a wheelchair for at least one year. Mike has served the people of Western New York as an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy and a New York State Court Officer for the past eighteen (18) years. Michael and his wife, Tiffany have three sons, Brandon-16, Michael-11 and Matthew-8. As you can imagine, Mike’s injuries have caused a severe financial hardship on the family. Due to the fact Mike was on his way into work at the time and not on the clock at the time of the accident, he is not eligible to receive on duty injury benefits and has exhausted all of his leave accruals forcing he and his family to rely on New York State Disability as their sole source of income.
With the assistance of The 100 Club of Buffalo, we have organized a benefit, Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Petti bones Grille (1 James D. Griffin Plaza, Buffalo, NY 14203).On behalf of the benefit Organizing Committee, we would appreciate donations of any kind including raffle items, food, drink, or professional services.
